Cheryl Lynn Laws, NP
Cheryl Lynn Laws was born and raised in Opelousas, Louisiana. She graduated from Opelousas High School in 2006 and went on to pursue nursing at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. In 2010, she graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing.
After graduating and becoming a registered nurse, Cheryl began her career at the Regional Medical Center of Acadiana (Lafayette General Southwest). She worked there as a Medical-Surgical nurse. Within this specialty, she served as one of the floor's charge nurses, mentored new graduate nurses, and also served as a shared employee at Women's and Children's Hospital in the Post- Partum unit.
In 2013, she began graduate school in pursuing a Masters of Science degree in nursing with a concentration as a Family Nurse Practitioner. After three years of graduate school that encompassed various clinical rotations; she completed her studies. She graduated with her Master's degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner and became certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Cheryl is an active member in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the American Nursing Association.
Art Turner is our Licensed Practical Nurse! She obtained her degree from Cameron College in New Orleans, LA where she graduated in 1994. She began working for Dr. Thomas in February 2006. Her favorite thing about working for Dr. Thomas is his true concern for patients and his calm demeanor. Art enjoys her career in the medical field because each day brings new challenges!
My name is Amanda and I am a certified medical assistant. I attended Unitech Training Academy, where I graduated in 2014. I have been working for Dr. Thomas since July 2014. My favorite thing about working for Dr. Thomas is his kindness, positive attitude, and the fact that he is always smiling! I love being in the medical field because I get joy from being able to cheer up a sick patient and put a smile on their face.
Meet Lindsey O'Neal, she is one of the Medical Assistance for Dr. Corwin Thomas. She began her career in the medical field in high school where she became certified as a Nursing Assistant in 2010. She later went to Northwestern State University, in Natchitoches, La for Radiologic Sciences. Unfortunately still was not what she was looking for, she later returned home and pursued her desire to become a Medical Assistant at Delta College of Arts and Technology. "I love helping people and have always been a loving nurturing person" says Lindsey, "I just cannot imagine not doing what I do now because I love it so much.” What I love about working for Dr. Thomas and the staff is that I feel as if we are all family. He is extremely passionate about his work as well as his patients.
Meet Char'metria Mouton, better known as "Mechie". She is from Abbeville,La and has been in the healthcare field since May 2014 after graduating high school. She then decided to further her education at Delta College of Arts & Technology where she graduated and became a Certified Medical Assistant. She started working with Dr.Thomas and his staff immediately after finishing her externship in November 2017. She loves working in the medical field because she enjoys helping people, being able to comfort them when sick or worried and having them leave feeling better and reassured. Her favorite things about working with Dr.Thomas is his true passion for helping his patients and his loving and smiley personality. "People may forget your name and may even forget your face, but they will always remember how you made them feel."
My name is Ruby, and I am an office assistant. I've been working for Dr. Thomas for a year and a half,and my favorite thing about working for him is his positive outlook about the medical field. He also teaches his staff how to better understand their overall health, which motivates me to learn how to live a healthier life.
Meet Rhonda, our authorization and outpatient service specialist! She began working with Dr. Thomas in 2014. She is a very outgoing and fun-loving person that enjoys socializing with the patients. Rhonda enjoys her job because she is able to coordinate the patients procedures and help them have a better understanding about what it entails. She also admires how the patients have greater knowledge regarding their cardiology conditions after being treated by Dr. Thomas.
Debbie, RVT, RT(R)
My name is Debbie Ardoin. I am a cardiovascular ultrasound technologist working in Dr. Corwin Thomas’ office. I graduated from Southern Medical School of Ultrasound in Baton Rouge, in June 2016. Immediately after graduation, I began working for Dr. Thomas. I am also a registered radiologist, having graduated from Louisiana State University – Eunice in May 2015. I share in Dr. Thomas vision of providing quality patient care in a friendly and caring environment.
Courtney Menard currently serves as the Practice Manager for Dr. Corwin Thomas. She has been in the medical field since 2005 managing the daily operations and supervising staff to ensure efficient, functional running of healthcare facilities and operative clinical activities.
After graduating high school she became a Certified Medical Office Assistant and worked as a Credentialing Coordinator and Billing Office Manager specializing in anesthesiology and pain management. She then decided to further her education and completed her Bachelors of Business Administration Degree and continued to work in the medical field as a Financial Service and Practice Manager overseeing a wide range of physician specialty and family medicine clinics. She is also a member of the Louisiana Medical Group Management Association.
Courtney enjoys working with outside agencies as well as staff and patients to ensure smooth and accurate operations. Her highest priority is to ensure that patients receive the highest quality of care.
Vanessa Habetz is from Rayne, Louisiana. She has been in the medical field for 19 years. She began her employment with Dr. Thomas as a Billing and Collection Specialist in November 2016. She enjoys working in this field because it gives her a chance to help the patients with billing concerns. She is very caring and understanding when it comes to the patients and wants them to feel comfortable. Vanessa also enjoys working in the friendly and upbeat environment Dr. Thomas provides in his office.
Meet Shanika, our Medical Office Receptionist. She attended Unitech Training Academy where she graduated in 2017 as an Administrative Medical Assistant, and received her certification as a Medical Office Assistant and Billing/Coding Specialist. Shanika completed her externship with Dr. Thomas office, and became a part of our heart family in December 2017. What she loves about working in the medical field, is knowing that she can make a difference in the patient's life. Her passion is always making sure our patients have an excellence experience from the moment they walk into the office till the moment they walk out by building a bond and treating each patient as family. What she loves about working for Dr. Thomas is the admiration he has for his profession, and also the dedication he gives to each and every patient that he greets with a welcoming persona.
